About Walloon Lake, MI - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Located in the Charlevoix and Emmet counties, the Walloon Lake is a huge glacier, which is a famous spot for vacations where many people from all across the U.S. come to spend their weekends and vacations with their friends and family. Walloon Lake is situated southwest of the northern tip of the Lower Peninsula of the Michigan state. The lake elevates to a height of over 30 meters and is 1.6 kilometers from Lake Michigan.
What is now known and famous as Walloon Lake was once called Talcott. The place was established when a local butcher of the town, J. R. Haas, saw the current name on a railroad map which led him to discover the history behind the name and the place. It is said that Walloons from Belgium were the first settlers and named the place Bear Lake. However, the story is still vivid as no traces of such people are found.
Walloon Lake offers many cottages and small resorts where visitors and travelers can stay and spend a quality time with their loved ones while enjoying the calming and relaxing atmosphere and scenic beauty of the place. The Lake covers a total area of 17.3 square kilometers. It becomes even more beautiful in the summers as when the glaciers melt, the visibility under the water increases allowing you to see to the bottom of the lake as the water is amazingly clear.
The place also has a few historic sites where some of the most well known personalities from across the US used to reside. Boats and trails help are there to transport you to and from the cottages. The climate of the region is enjoyable in the summers. However, it can get extremely cold in winters that give birth to the need of properly working air conditioning systems because without such systems, it can become challenging for people to stay in Walloon Lake.
